A modern take on the classic Lebanese Kibbeh, baked to perfection with a flavorful filling.
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
Preheating ensures even cooking and a crispy top layer.
In a mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, bulgur, grated onion, salt, and pepper. Mix thoroughly until well combined.
Ensure the bulgur is well-drained to avoid a soggy mixture.
In a frying pan, sauté the small diced onion until translucent. Add the ground beef and cook until browned. Stir in the pine nuts, cinnamon, salt, and pepper. Cook for another 2 minutes.
Toast the pine nuts beforehand for extra flavor.
Grease a baking dish with butter. Spread half of the kibbeh base evenly across the bottom.
Use a spatula to press the layer firmly for a solid base.
Spread the filling evenly over the kibbeh base.
Ensure the filling is evenly distributed for consistent flavor.
Top with the remaining kibbeh base, pressing it down gently. Score the top into diamond shapes using a knife.
Scoring helps the butter seep into the kibbeh for a richer taste.
Pour the melted butter evenly over the top. Bake in the preheated oven for 30 minutes or until golden brown.
Check halfway through to ensure even browning.
Let the kibbeh cool slightly before serving. Enjoy with a side of yogurt sauce or salad.
Letting it cool slightly helps it set and makes it easier to cut.
